I am a female (not that it should make a difference, but apparently in our society it does…)
From the day I moved out of my parent’s house, I’ve supported myself 100%, not because they don’t love me but because they can’t support my dreams financially.
For over two years I schlepped 2-for-1’s and shots to pay for my rent, a used car, and tuition at a community college.
Now I’m attending the University of MN and I depleted all of my savings just so I wouldn’t have to take out a loan this semester. I’m trying to get by debt free and it seems near impossible.
I’m majoring in journalism, a profession I consider a civic duty. I know my salary will never break 5 figures and I’m OK with that because I’ve learned to live within my means.
I am the 99%.

This is a call to action for communities throughout Mexico, Canada
and the United States to join together on January 31, 2014, and say
“ENOUGH!” to the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), the
pending Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and other corporate “trade”
deals. Solidarity actions elsewhere throughout the globe are also

It’s being called “The Day We Fight Back.” There will be an
Internet-wide protest launched against the type of spying which we now
know the National Security Agency (NSA) has been involved in, both in
the United States and throughout the world.
This February 11th, a huge number of popular sites and companies
known for activist-leanings – including Reddit, Mozilla, and BoingBoing –
will take part in this protest. More sites are expected to join in.
The sites will all feature anti-spying banners on that day, to both protest NSA and related types of government spying and intrusion, as well we as to raise awareness about it. This follows in the footsteps of massive sites like Wikipedia and Google doing something similar, even going on “strike” a couple of years ago, to protest the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA).
