John van 't Schip roept de KNVB op om het WK van 2018 in Rusland te boycotten.

De oud-Ajacied doet zijn oproep vanwege de ramp het vliegtuig boven Oekraïne. MH17 werd waarschijnlijk door Russisch wapentuig uit de lucht geschoten.
Behalve de KNVB, moeten ook de Nederlandse regering en de FIFA het WK in Rusland boycotten, bepleit Van 't Schip.
Doorgaans komen oproepen om grote sportevenementen te boycotten pas enkele weken of maanden voor het evenement daadwerkelijk begint. Van 't Schip kiest ervoor om nu eens ruim op tijd het onderwerp aan te snijden.
